Mission
Values Guiding the Center
In January of 2008 the Board of Directors for the Samaritan Counseling Center met to develop a new statement of purpose and a statement of core values. The Center has been in existence for almost ten years and has taken on an identity through responding to needs that presented themselves. By writing a statement of Core Values, the Board specified the direction that will guide the Center’s future direction. Our statement of purpose and core values are listed below:
Statement of Purpose
To enable a diverse group of people to restore their emotional well being by opening the door to mental health care, awareness and education, thereby improving the quality of life for individuals and the community.
Core Values:
We Believe:-
Mental and emotional health is essential to well being.
Quality mental health care should be available to all people.
Mental health care should be provided within a comfortable, safe and respectful environment.
Individual spirituality should be respected.
The Center should attract, hire and retain quality professionals.
In the value of an interdisciplinary approach to mental health care.
The Center should deliver the most effective mental health care possible.
Confidentiality and privacy are essential to good care.
In the creative utilization of Center resources and in the collaboration with other organizations to meet the needs of the community.
The Center should be recognized as a resource within the Midtown community.
The Center should operate efficiently and maintain a sound financial basis by good stewardship of resources.
The success of the Center is built on contributions of time, talent and other resources provided by the Board, professionals and benefactors.
Central to the Core Values is the idea that mental health care should be of a high quality. This Center does not strive to be large, but it strives to do what it does in an excellent manner. It is important that each individual who seeks help here will be given thoughtful, skillful and thorough care. Having a multi-disciplinary staff is seen as part of delivering good care.
